Grandeur

Thailand continues to impress me.

One of my Thai officemates sent me an email if I have visited this place. I immediately clicked on the link, and WHOA! I must go to that place. It was Wednesday. I forwarded the email to my fellow expats and everyone agreed to explore the place on Sunday.

a-maze-ment

Despite the sun’s insensitive penetration to our already-burnt skins, we managed to ignore it. By the way, the place is called Nongnooch Tropical Botanical Garden. We arrived at 12 noon and took out 400 baht for the entrance fee. It’s a bit expensive but once we entered the area, it was worth every single baht.

Initially I thought it was just a garden. But the place offered more. They have zoos, cultural show stadium, mini-lake, pottery area and a lot more. It was really cool to see tigers, ponies, parrots, orangutans, elepahants within reach. Hehe, yes, no cage or whatsoever.

I was a bit disappointed with the butterfly garden. The butterflies weren’t cooperative enough for a photo shoot! But who I am to complain, perhaps on my next visit when they are familiar with me already.

We had a quick lunch and decided to watch the cultural show. It showcased Thailand’s culture and history. It was an educationally entertaining presentation. We proceeded then to the elephant show. Some tourist excitedly volunteered themselves as clients of an elephant masseuse. Hehe!

The time was ticking fast when we realized only few minutes were left before the garden closes. We hurried to the French Garden and it was definitely – French! Haha! The garden was really mesmering and breathtaking is an understatement. I really like the patterns and it looked like it is being taken care and its humungous. A-maze-d! I was. (Other photos to follow)

As the sun yawned, we knew it was time to go back to the hotel. Scanning through the folded brochures, it looked like we missed a lot, and these areas seem as wonderful as the others.

In the near future, we have to go back to the said place to further explore its grandeur.
