Eclipse

Last Saturday, I went to a local camera shop and saw an eyewear an being sold for the coming solar eclipse. After going home, I checked the details and found out that the phenomenon will happen on May 21, 2012, 0732H, Japan time. Perfect timing, I thought. Our company is celebrating its Foundation Day which means it's a holiday for us. Before going to bed on Sunday, I was having second thoughts whether to set the alarm or not. It was my chance to be lazy stay in bed until noon. But being a photography addict, I did set the clock and didn't have any regrets after seeing this. Sun and moon are strange bedfellows here.

Though at first I was disappointed as all I can see was clouds. Waking up early only to see the clouds is totally unacceptable. I don't have a choice. And since I'm already awake and thinking that there's no more chance to see the solar eclipse, I just decided to dry the laundry when I heard voices downstairs. Those were voices of amazement. Of awe. So, I thought may be the eclipse is visible now. I grabbed my camera and positioned myself at the terrace. Clicked the camera for about ten times but the clouds were blocking the sun from time to time.

The weather wasn't perfect but I'll take it. It was fun though. Ha ha!

'Til the next solar eclipse.

  1. This is a great shot! The clouds give it an eerie feeling, as if an eclipse isn't eerie enough. :)

  3. beautiful, John. I did not have an eyewear for it, and also was having some headaches, so I did not even bother to get out. But I am glad to be seeing images from the eclipse, hope next time, I would be able to witness it. The clouds added drama to your eclipse actually.
