Mud

The Mudpack Festival in Negros Island Region is not as popular as the MassKara Festival but it has its own following. Now on its 21st year, locals and visitors still flock to Mambukal Resort every 3rd week of June for a 3-day celebration.

I first heard about the festival in 2008, and this is the second time I joined the festivities. It is still fascinating as ever and a good venue to shoot. There are various activities including tribal dance, clay body paint, drum beating competition. I also submitted my entries to the photo contest.

Experience a unique festival that celebrates the harmony of man and nature. Held every 3rd week of June, Mudpack Festival centers on the harmony of man and nature. It features Mambukal's distinct multi-colored clay. Artists gather to showcase their talent on ethnic music, dances and crafts in this Festival of the Art. more here

All throughout the tribal dance competition, I only used my macro lens. I didn't have to time to change my lens while shooting because it was raining and my location is not that good. Anyway, this was my favorite tribe and photo series. The second photo below was included in National Geographic Daily Dozen.

I tried to write a blog this June so as to continue my streak of at least one entry per month. I am still looking for a job so I am not that active yet in the blogging world. My photography world is very much alive.

And here’s the video of the activities. Until next year.
