Today, I am a year older and there’s no stopping it. Most of you are aware of my yearly birthday tradition - photo shoot in birthday suit. I was running out of idea and then I met Ai-san, a body painter in Yokohama, in one of photography meet-ups.
Was I born in spring
the crib was made of sakura
petals and daffodils
perhaps, my first cry
was in summer
where the children's room is painted
with all shades of green
or was it in autumn
i tried to reach maple
where the breeze cradled me
but there's the warmth of a hammock
in spring, winter, summer, fall
I always thought that body-painting is an interesting yet difficult art, both to the painter and the subject. I wanted to experience it, I can't be a painter so I need to be the model. Since I have been in Japan for more than a decade, I decided to have the four seasons as my concept. This could be a sort of tribute too, who knows, this may be my last year in Japan. Four seasons would mean a year-long celebration.
Ai-san was very patient in painting my entirety. I hoped I was not a difficult subject. I may consider this is an alternative career. Ha ha! Overall, it was a fun-filled activity. Thanks to Ai-san and my photographer friends, Noli and Dave.
2016 is still a great year for me despite a not so good year-end career-wise. I have a lot to look forward to next year and start another chapter of my life. Being 39.
